Toddler Running Wild During My Outdoor Photo Shoots - Here's how I handle it

We all know that getting a toddler to do what you want them to do can be impossible. The more you ask them to do something, the more they like to refuse it. So it’s no wonder that one of the main worries, clients with young kids have, is how their toddler is going to behave on the day, and how on earth I am going to capture them when they are running around like crazy.

Truth is, I love shooting toddlers; and toddlers really enjoy my photo sessions, because they get to run around as much as they want to.

But how do I still get beautiful, connected shots of your family, you wonder?

First of all, I work fast! Getting a great shot only takes a split second and can be done while the toddler is running off to their next adventure.

I also like to incorporate little games into my sessions that toddlers love to take part in and that give me great photo opportunities.

And finally, movement creates beautiful, natural connection. If you pick up your child that is running towards you, I’ll be there to capture the moment you give each other a great big hug (before they start squirming and want to run off again…)

So, if you would love to capture your family and your toddler, don’t worry! We’ll get some great shots that capture your family as you are in this phase - a little bit wild, a little bit chaotic but definitely full of joy, love and connection.

Here are some pictures of a recent photo session I did with wonderfully wild toddler, and I just love how natural and beautiful those images have turned out!

Ready to book your family photo session? I would love to hear from you!
