4 Myths about Newborn Photography

Last month I talked about common misconceptions about family photography, and a lot of people found this really helpful. So today I want to talk about wrong ideas people have about newborn photography. Capturing the first few weeks of your bub’s life is such a precious and unique opportunity - it would be a shame to miss out on it because of unfounded worries about what a newborn photography session is like .

So here we go…

1. You need lots of props.

In lifestyle newborn photography all I need is your baby, your arms and a blanket and/or swaddle. We want to capture your baby in their first few weeks of life in a natural way. So I never bring any props to my newborn photo shoots.

2. You need to dress up.

Birth and the first few weeks are tough, so my newborn sessions are very relaxed. No need to dress up yourself or bub - all we want are some beautiful shots of your love and connection, and I can capture that with simple, comfy clothes.

3. You need to go to a photo studio.

I know that leaving the house with a newborn can be daunting. Don't worry! I will come to your house and capture you in your own home (and you won’t even have to tidy! I promise…)

4. Your baby will be separated from you.

Babies belong in their parents' arms. That's what baby-led posing is all about. I can take beautiful photos of your baby while you are holding them, so you don't have to worry about unsettling your little one. Your baby is in charge at my sessions!

I hope I could show you that newborn photography can be stress free, relaxed and natural. If you would like to have a chat about getting your baby’s photos taken, send me a message. I’d love to hear from you! x
